Mark Solms’ Free Online Course “What Is a Mind?”
Offered by FutureLearn
Following an incredibly successful second round, this free online course with Mark Solms is being offered again. Explore questions about the mind with video lectures, readings, and discussion forums, starting April 18.
What is a Mind?, a free online course in the field of neuropsychoanalysis from the University of Cape Town, offered in partnership with FutureLearn, is being offered for a third time. In this course you are invited to explore pertinent scientific and philosophical concepts for understanding our own minds.
Led by Professor Mark Solms, Chair of Neuropsychology at the University of Cape Town, What is a Mind? adopts a multidisciplinary approach to explore four defining properties of the mind – subjectivity, consciousness, intentionality and agency. Over six weeks, Professor Solms uses these four properties to help us think about the fundamental questions: what it is to be a mind, why we have a mind and what it feels like to have a mind.
You can find out more in Professor Solms’ post for the FutureLearn blog: What is a mind? – One of the great mysteries of our time
