1. HOTELS
We have been able to reserve some rooms in a wide range of hotels:
Two hotels are very close indeed to our congress venue at VenueSIX10 on South Michigan Avenue: both were built as hotels and are landmark buildings: The Blackstone Chicago Hotel (beautiful breakfast room, and the ballroom is a ‘must’ to admire); and The Hilton Chicago (indoor running track and swimming as standard).
Then we have reserved rooms in two other rather wonderful smaller hotels, The Freeland Hotel (a classic 1927 building, just north of the river) and The Blake. Both are downtown as well, and full of character and originality – the Blake is a 10 mns or so walk to the congress venue while the Freeland probably up to 20 mns walk away.
We have also reserved a handful of rooms at the nearby basic and good-value Travelodge on the same block as The Blackstone so very close to the congress venue.
Prices per night:
The Blackstone – deluxe single or double or with Lakeview King (if available): $249; book by June 6
The Hilton – standard single/double: $229; triple: $254; quad: $279; book by April 30
The Freeland – double room: $175; quad (private or shared per room) $200; book by May 25
The Blake: single room: $189; double room $209; book by April 11
Travelodge – standard single/double: $139; deluxe single/double: $149; book by May 23
All prices will be subject to a 16.40% tax. This will increase to 17.40% in May.
