From the conference brochure of the hosts:

The Conference, organized by the Centro Psicoanalitico di Roma in collaboration with the Centro Milanese di Psicoanalisi, will address the current understanding and treatment of three widespread clinical complaints: addiction, depression, and trauma-related disorders. Focusing on the dream in clinical practice, the Conference will utilize two different but interrelated domains of knowledge, psychoanalysis and neuroscience, to illuminate these disorders. Presently, neuroscience is actively dealing with some crucial contributions from recent models in quantum physics, and the latest neurobiological data regarding neuropsychic functioning: brain imaging to visualize and map the working mind, artificial intelligence modeling, and consciousness and the subjective experience. On the other side, psychoanalysis of dreams, introduced by Freud with the dream working model hypothesis, has developed in other directions and theorizations. In the beginning, these new contributions were centered around the concepts of interpretation and/or construction. Recently, the dream has been considered more like a working model in itself: a mark of the analytic relationship, a map of mental functioning, an internal characters casting. All these theorizations are now of great interest within the psychoanalytic community. The topics of the Conference will initially be discussed on a specific forum, hosted on the CPdr website www.cpdr.it. All the questions discussed will be addressed to the invited panelists after each presentation.
