Dr Mark Solms will present a revision of Freudian drive theory, with scientific justification, and will discuss the implications of this revision for clinical practice. The implications concern mainly our formulation of the structure of the psychopathology in individual cases, but there are also implications (not directly related to drive theory) for our understanding of repression, defense, transference and working through.
In the afternoon session, there will be a case presentation by Dr. Patricia Lindahl and discussion of the case by Mark Solms, Ph.D., Nasir Ilahi, LL.M., Alexander Kalogerakis, M.D. and Andrew Rosendahl, M.D., Ph.D. (moderator) that stimulates thinking from differing perspectives.
