The Revised Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud is scheduled for print release in June 2024. This ongoing theoretical seminar aims to delve into selected works in the revised translation, volume by volume. The goal is to re-evaluate Freud’s classical concepts in light of modern neuroscience. Participants will enroll for one year at a time, with 10 seminars annually. Prior to each seminar, attendees will receive PDFs of the selected works. The Freud papers will be considered ‘as read’, and Professor Mark Solms, the editor of the Revised Standard Edition, will share his insights on the chosen paper for approximately one hour, followed by an approximately hour-long discussion with the seminar participants. This captivating series offers an opportunity to stay abreast of the latest developments in our field and contribute to shaping the scientific trajectory of psychoanalysis in the 21st Century.
The second series will focus on the following ten papers:
1. Psychoanalytic Notes on an Autobiographical Account of a Case of Paranoia (Dementia Paranoides) (1911 [1910]), RSE, VOLUME 12.
2. The Dynamics of Transference (1912), RSE, VOLUME 12.
3. Recommendations to Physicians Practicing Psychoanalysis (1912), RSE, VOLUME 12.
4. Formulations on the Two Principles of Mental Functioning (1911), RSE, VOLUME 12.
