I would like to extend an open invitation to all members interested in psychoanalytic educational matters to join us at the Psychoanalytic Scholarship Forum on Saturday, February 9, from 9:00-12:00 at the upcoming ApsaA meetings in New York.  Alan Sugarman, Head of the Department of Psychoanalytic Education has written previously to all local institutes and training centers, suggesting that each send a faculty representative to this activity of the DPE.  But, anyone interested is more than welcome.  The PSF is part of the DPE, dedicated to the presentation and discussion of ideas, research, discoveries and progress on the edges of own discipline and from other academic, scientific and humanities arenas that interact or should interact with psychoanalytic thinking and practice–all of which should be our concern for the future directions of psychoanalytic education and training.

In this upcoming, kick-off session Mark Solms, Luba and Richard Kessler will describe their own personal journeys and critical thinking that has led each of them to propose the following question: “Is Neuropsychoanalysis the New Basic Science of Psychoanalysis? Implications for Education and Training.”

The goal here is to involve all attending the meeting in open discussion on all sides of this issue to generate further thinking in general and for the DPE to consider in its work on advancing psychoanalytic education.
