Italian Psychoanalytic Dialogues (IPD) – “Anxiety”
Italian Psychoanalytic Dialogues (IPD) and the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society cordially invite you to this conference
Anxiety, panic, fear, angst, phobia: emotions at the forefront in order to save our lives but also sources of discomfort and uneasiness, suffering and psychic pain. The 3rd Conference organized by Italian Psychoanalytic Dialogues (I.P.D.) and International Neuropsychoanalysis Society (NPSA), with the endorsements of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society (SPI) and the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), will address the conscious and unconscious dynamics underlying the emergence of anxiety, panic and angst, illustrating the recent neuroscientific contributions to the understanding of the complex interactions between neuronal functioning and psychic processes. The dialogue between the neuroscientist Joseph Le Doux and the psychoanalyst Stefano Bolognini (IPA Past President 2013-2017) will focus on the origins and transformations of anxiety and fear, with specific attention to their peculiarities in the human species and their evolution into panic, angst and phobias but from two different viewpoints, the neuroscientific and the psychoanalytic ones as well as from a theoretical and clinical perspective. On the second day of the Congress, focused on treatment Mark Solms (Chair Ipa Research Committee, NPSA President) and Anna Niccolò (SPI President) will promote a discussion among several experts on the different current treatment of anxiety: from psychoanalysis to psychotherapy, from a cognitivist approach to psychopharmacology.
